2. What is KCET?

  • The full form of KCET is Karnataka Common Entrance Test. Karnataka CET is conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for admissions in member colleges in the state of Karnataka. Candidates attempt this entrance exam for engineering, medical & dental courses at graduate level.
  • This entrance exam for engineering, medical and dental admissions is conducted every year.
  • Successful candidates can obtain admission in various Government colleges, Private aided and un-aided educational institutions affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and few Autonomous universities in the state of Karnataka. The exams are conducted at 50 locations in the Karnataka region by KEA.


3. What are the subjects for KCET?

Students attempt the KCET entrance exam in the subjects of Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, with each exam having 60 marks and conducted over duration of 1 hour 20 minutes (80 minutes). This year (2019), the exams will be conducted on 4th and 5th May, Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

5. What is the eligibility criterion for KCET?

Application criteria for candidates who want to join Engineering/Technological Courses is:

  • To attempt Karnataka CET 2019, the applicants should have passed the qualifying exam i.e. class 12 or 2nd PUC with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/Biology/Bio-Technology as optional subjects in English medium. Qualifying marks: a minimum of 45% (General) and 40% (ST, SC, OBC and Category-1).
  • Students appearing for 2nd PUC, can also attempt the Karnataka CET 2019.
